Pattern of blood components utilization in Hayatabd medical complex

Objectives: The objective of the present study was to review blood components acquisition patterns and practices transfusion in a tertiary care hospital. Material Methods: An observational cross sectional retrospective conducted bank Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) Peshawar, for period six months. requisition forms details patients acquiring products recorded HMC Blood issue register were sources data. data analyzed using software SPSS version 20. Results: In months total 16025 transfused with an average 2670 units per month. whole maximum product followed by RCC, platelets FFPs are least utilized products. Among 50 % males while 50% females. Pediatric (21.2%) Gynae/Obs. (19.1%), demanded 16.7% , Accident Emergency (A&E) unit 14.1%, surgical 8.8% intensive (ICU) 6.8%, Orthopedic consumed 3.3% cardiology 3.1%, gastroenterology 2.6 %, oncology 2.4% endocrinology 1.5 %.
